Jersey Water has announced 100% compliance in its water quality results for the 2021 business year. There were no instances of pesticides and nitrates exceeding the regulatory limits in treated water. In addition, the bacteriological compliance of water leaving the treatment works and treated water reservoirs achieved 100%.

For the eighth consecutive year, Jersey Water has successfully treated and maintained nitrate concentrations below the regulatory limit in drinking water through the careful selection and blending of water sources.

Throughout the year the Company completed 12,000 sampling tests on untreated water from streams, storage reservoirs and the inlet to our treatment works. 15,000 laboratory tests were taken on treated water from our water treatment works, in the mains network, and at the treated water reservoirs to monitor performance and ensure water quality compliance.

Jersey Water is part of the Technical Officer Group to resolve the issue of historic PFAS pollution in the St. Ouen’s Bay aquifer and Pont Marquet area. The drinking water supply in Jersey is fully compliant with the most stringent international regulatory quality standards for PFAS in drinking water. The Company monitors the level of PFAS in the affected water sources as part of its comprehensive sampling and analysis programme to ensure that the water meets the most rigorous standards by a comfortable margin.
