Jersey Water has today announced the appointment of Dr Donald Reid to Water Quality Manager.
Donald joins the Company from Alberta Canada where he spent 10 years as the Drinking Water Quality Regulator for the Department of Environment and Parks, leading the implementation of drinking water safety plans in Alberta which is the first jurisdiction in North America to have this. Hailing from Scotland, Donald holds a B.Sc in Biology and a PhD in Chemical Engineering and has held the position of Lecturer at the University of Sunderland and The Robert Gordon University, and is presently an Adjunct Professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta and an Adjunct Associate Professor in Civil Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary.
Dr Reid worked for the Scottish Government for 8 years as a Principle Scientist responsible for policy development and implementation in the drinking-water sector and in 2005 was seconded to the Federal Government in Canada. From the Rocky Mountains of Western Canada to the most Southerly Channel Island, Donald will head up the Water Quality Team at Jersey Water using his extensive experience to build on successes and continue to ensure water quality meets the highest of standards. He moves to the Island with his wife and their extremely friendly Golden Retriever with whom he is very much looking forward to enjoying the beautiful countryside and beaches.
