Jersey Water has presented the Friends of Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) £22,960 following a year of fundraising, during which employees collected the most they have ever raised for their chosen charity.
At the beginning of 2019, Friends of SCBU Jersey was chosen by Jersey Water’s employees as their charity of choice. Over the course of the year, the team raised money in a variety of ways, including setting up the Jersey Water ‘Hydration Station’ at events such as the Jersey Boat Show and Weekender Festival. During these events, employees gave out water and refillable water bottles in return for a donation to the Friends SCBU Jersey; over 2,000 reusable bottles were handed out along with 5,000 litres of water to keep the crowds hydrated over the hot weekends.
Other fundraising activities ranged from teams putting on an Open Day at Queens Valley Reservoir, a Hog Roast, a quiz night and many more activities. Jersey Water also entered a team in the popular Friends of SCBU ‘It’s a Knock out’ competition.
Helier Smith, Chief Executive, Jersey Water said, “We are delighted to have been able to support the Friends of SCBU Jersey this year. Many of our employees have had their children in the unit and experienced the amazing care of the team. The Jersey Water team have thoroughly enjoyed organising and taking part in the various events, significantly exceeding our previous fundraising which is an outstanding achievement. It has been fantastic working with the charity and getting to know the team who have attended many of our events.”
