A 30-year long relationship is set to continue, as Jersey Water re-appoints Jayen Limited to provide support services for its mains network operations.
After a competitive tender process, which invited four local contractors to apply, Jersey Water has awarded the firm a three-year contract, which has the option to extend to five years.
The service contract involves supporting Jersey Water with maintaining and extending the Island’s mains water network, installing meters and helping to repair burst pipework and leaks.
Working with Jayen, the Island’s water utility has maintained the lowest levels of leakage for any water company in the British Isles and industry-leading rates for the average length of time that customers go without water due to interruptions; 28 seconds compared to an average of 12 minutes in the UK.
Paul Batho, Head of Network for Jersey Water said:
“With the previous service contract up for renewal this year, we had the opportunity to really review our operations to see where and how we could achieve the best value for the company and our customers. Jayen Limited successfully demonstrated in their tender that they could provide the right blend of quality, price and community benefit. We look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with the company, which shares our values and commitment to providing our critical service for the Island, while helping us to keep customer bills fair and affordable.”
On behalf of Jayen Limited, Director Alan Poingdestre added:
“We are proud that Jersey Water continues to see the value in the service we provide. With a relationship that dates back to 1994, we hope to be able to provide exceptional service for the water utility and its customers for many years to come. As our company embarks on a new chapter under new joint ownership, our intention is to build upon the service we provide for our Island.”
