For us to send fresh, safe, clean water to homes, businesses and to your school, we first have to collect it in its natural state or what we call ‘raw water’. There are two ways that we collect water:
Rain Water
I love it when it rains, sleets or snows because that water will run off the land into streams and reservoirs or soak through the soil into the ground and that gives us lots of lovely water. All over the Island, we have many reservoirs, streams and deep holes, called boreholes, that we use to capture as much of this rain water as possible!
Sea Water
Have you ever tasted sea water? It’s not very nice or very safe to drink. So, we have a cool thing called a ‘Desalination Plant’ that removes the salt from the sea water and makes it safe to drink. Click here to find out more about the Desalination Plant.
