For the fourth year running Jersey Water is offering financial assistance towards the cost of study plus paid work experience during holiday periods to one successful applicant. The scheme set up in 2009 by the then Chairman of Jersey Water David Norman, is designed to support a local student embarking on a first undergraduate degree course in any of the following subject areas:
• Engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical)
• Water resources, management and conservation
• Environmental sciences
• Chemistry
Cheryl Kaye, HR Manager for Jersey Water commented “Our first Bursary Scheme student Jordan Todd graduated in 2012 with a degree in Environmental Biology (BSc Hons) and we have three other students that have joined the scheme and are currently working for their degrees. As a local Jersey company we understand the importance of investing in young people for the future. As the job market continues to be competitive, we have found by offering both financial support as well as practical paid work experience our students gain both valuable experience and practical skills. We look forward to receiving applications for the scheme and working with the successful applicant”
