For the 53rd year, De La Salle students will be putting on their walking boots and walking 36 miles around the Island. Taking place on Thursday 10th April, 500 students take part in this high profile event, with nearly 200 crossing the finish line. Founded by Beeches Old Boy Jack Renault in 1960, last year this event raised £20,000 for local and international charities.
An event of this scale needs support, and for the second year running Jersey Water will be sponsoring De La Salle’s Walk. Jersey Water has agreed to provide fresh drinking water throughout the walk so the students are kept hydrated.
Helier Smith, Finance Director for Jersey Water commented “We are pleased to be able to support the walk again this year. We wish all the boys every success in undertaking the walk and their fundraising for their nominated charities.”
De La Salle’s Events Manager, Mr A Labey commented “Sponsored by Jersey Water, we are delighted to organise this event, for the 53rd year. It is a truly gruelling challenge and all our boys’ endeveaour to cross the finish line, but this would not be possible without drinking water to keep them going. It is wonderful for our boys to have the opportunity to take part in this mammoth challenge for charities that are close to our hearts. This year our two chosen charities are The Jersey Branch of Samaritans and international charity Jersey Nyalkinyi Communities.
