Jersey Water has today announced its tariffs for 2011. For the second year running, the cost of metered water will remain unchanged. Unmetered water charges will increase by 1.5% with effect from 1 April 2011. Standing charges remain unchanged for both metered and unmetered supplies. This is the ninth consecutive year in which price increases for water have been kept at or below the rate of inflation (based on September RPI figures).
Managing Director & Engineer of Jersey Water, Howard Snowden, commented:
“Just under half of Jersey Water’s customers now pay for water by meter. More and more customers are being metered every day as part of the phased island wide metering programme which started in 2010 and seeks to meter 90% of all customers by 2015. In order to encourage customers to switch to paying for water by meter we have decided to absorb the modest price increase for metered customers. Many customers will save money by having a water meter fitted. Increased metering also helps the company keeps bills down by reducing leakage and the need to collect, treat and distribute water that would otherwise be wasted.”
